Algiers – November 2025 – The latest edition of the Algiers International Book Fair wrapped up with unprecedented figures, confirming the event’s status as the country’s largest cultural gathering. According to the fair’s curator, Mohamed Iqreb, the number of visitors reached 5.6 million by Friday and surpassed six million by the end of the closing day, reflecting the extraordinary enthusiasm of the Algerian public for reading and literature.

Thursday, November 6, was recorded as the fair’s busiest day, drawing over 850,000 visitors in a single day. This remarkable turnout underscores the widespread appetite for literary engagement across Algeria.

Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Ben Doudah, hailed the figures as evidence of Algerians’ thirst for knowledge and confirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting public publishing houses while promoting reading as a daily cultural practice.
