Pre-Registration, Orientation Process for New Baccalaureate Holders: A Comprehensive Overview

Algiers, Algeria | July 14th, 2024 — The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the pre-registration dates for new baccalaureate holders, scheduled from July 23 to July 27, with orientation results to be released on August 6. During a press conference, Minister Kamel Baddari outlined the key updates and innovations in the pre-registration and orientation process for the academic year 2024-2025.

Key Dates and Procedures

Minister Baddari highlighted the pre-registration period from July 23 to July 27. Following the announcement of orientation results on August 6, students are required to pay their tuition fees between August 10 and August 15. This timeline ensures a streamlined and efficient transition for new students into the university system.

Digital Advancements: Electronic Card and Portals

In line with the “Zero Paper” policy, students will receive an electronic card, enhancing efficiency and reducing administrative costs. This move towards digitization reflects the Ministry’s commitment to modernization and sustainability.

Furthermore, a new digital portal featuring three applications has been launched to support new baccalaureate holders. These include “Tawjihikoum: Discover Your Curriculum,” “Discover Your Orientation with Artificial Intelligence,” and “Explore Careers Related to Your Chosen Field.” A QR code system has also been introduced to simplify the registration process.

New Training Centers and Programs

The minister also announced the establishment of new training centers and programs. Notably, a National School of Cybersecurity will be created at the Sidi Abdellah university hub. Additionally, 32 new training programs have been approved in fields such as Translation, Architecture, and Material Sciences. New programs in Automotive Manufacturing Technology, Textile Engineering at the University of Relizane, and Chinese Language at the University of Algiers 2 have also been introduced.

Double Degree Opportunities

For the first time, students can pursue two degrees simultaneously, such as in Economics and Mathematics. In the medical field, dual degree programs have been established across eight medical faculties. These include Medicine/Big Data at Annaba, Batna 2, Ouargla, Sétif 1, and Bejaia; Medicine/Artificial Intelligence at Bejaia; Medicine/Health Economics at Constantine 3, Sétif 1, and Ouargla; Medicine/Bioinformatics at Algiers 1; and Medicine/Medical Psychology at Tlemcen.

Promotion of Arts and Enhanced University System

Responding to the graduation of the first cohort of Arts baccalaureate holders, an Arts Institute has been established at Oran 1 University. To further the transition from traditional universities to the fourth-generation university model (4.0), 23 new institutions (15 universities and 8 higher schools) have been selected to digitize educational spaces.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is committed to fostering an environment of innovation, digital transformation, and comprehensive education. By embracing new technologies and expanding academic opportunities, Algeria aims to provide its students with the tools and skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
