President Abdelmadjid Tebboune Embarks on Official Visit to Slovenia to Bolster Strategic Bilateral Ties

Algiers, Algeria | May 12th, 2025 — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune began an official visit to the Republic of Slovenia on Monday, reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to enhancing its strategic partnerships across Europe. The visit comes in response to a formal invitation extended in October last year by Slovenia’s ambassador to Algeria, Urška Kramberger Mandac.

Over recent years, Algerian-Slovenian relations have experienced remarkable growth, particularly in political and economic spheres. The two countries have already signed a number of key commercial and economic agreements, with a major focus on energy supply. One of the most significant deals involves Algeria’s commitment to supplying Slovenia with liquefied natural gas (LNG), ensuring energy security for the European partner while reinforcing Algeria’s role as a reliable regional energy supplier.

Additionally, Slovenia stands to benefit from Algeria’s trans-Mediterranean gas infrastructure, particularly the pipeline that links Algeria directly to Italy. This infrastructure provides Slovenia with a stable and strategic access point to Algerian gas, underlining the importance of Algeria in the broader European energy landscape.

President Tebboune’s visit is anticipated to include high-level talks with Slovenian officials, aiming to diversify bilateral cooperation beyond energy into sectors such as technology, infrastructure, and green transition—areas of mutual interest and growing urgency.
