President Tebboune Calls for an Immediate End to Gaza Genocide and Urgent Reform of Global Financial Governance

Algiers, Algeria | July 1st, 2025 — At the 4th United Nations Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), held in Seville, Spain, Algeria delivered a principled message to the international community. In a speech delivered on his behalf by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune issued an unequivocal call to end the genocidal aggression on Gaza and to undertake a comprehensive overhaul of the global financial system, which he described as structurally unjust and deeply biased against the Global South.

President Tebboune’s message, delivered on Tuesday, strongly condemned the ongoing Zionist onslaught on Gaza, characterizing it as a deliberate campaign of extermination against the Palestinian people. He called on the international community to immediately halt the barbaric aggression and uphold its moral and legal responsibility to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom, dignity, and the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.

The Algerian head of state also used the international platform to urge world leaders to address systemic inequities in the global financial architecture, particularly the exclusion of developing countries from decision-making processes within key financial institutions. He emphasized that such exclusion perpetuates global inequalities and obstructs the path toward a more just and balanced international order.

In his remarks, President Tebboune warned that Africa continues to bear the brunt of financial injustice, trapped under the crushing weight of debt and deprived of adequate financing mechanisms. He stressed that the continent’s developmental aspirations are being stifled, undermining efforts to achieve economic stability and sovereignty.

To address these imbalances, the President called for the establishment of a comprehensive UN-led framework for global debt governance, one that would close existing gaps, provide practical solutions, and empower developing nations to reclaim their agency in shaping their economic futures.
