President Tebboune Calls for Credibility, Economic Diversification, and Education: Algeria’s Commitment to Honor IATF 2025 Engagements and Strengthen its Continental Footprint

Algiers – October 2025 – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune delivered a forceful message on Thursday at the Centre International de Conférences (CIC) in Algiers, calling upon Algeria’s public and private economic operators to honor their commitments both nationally and internationally, particularly following the resounding success of the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), hosted in the Algerian capital earlier this month.
In his opening address, the Head of State underscored a central principle: “The credibility of the State is above all other considerations.” By this, he reminded operators that Algeria’s economic reputation, both domestically and abroad, depends on their ability to meet contractual obligations and fulfill the promises made at this landmark continental trade event.
A Resounding Success for Algerian Products
President Tebboune hailed the unprecedented success of the IATF 2025, which he described as a collective achievement stemming from the mobilization of all national sectors, in cooperation with foreign partners. According to Afreximbank, Algerian operators signed contracts worth an impressive 11.4 billion US dollars, affirming Algeria’s growing presence in African and international markets.
“The Algerian product has confirmed its high quality in Africa and beyond,” Tebboune declared, noting the positive feedback from participating states and highlighting that Algeria’s goods and services are now recognized for their competitiveness and reliability across the continent.
The President credited not only industrialists and private entrepreneurs but also Algeria’s youth-led startups and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) for this milestone. “We have made significant progress in creating a robust network of SMEs and start-ups. This is an incentive to double our efforts in boosting non-hydrocarbon exports,” he added.
Diversification and Competitiveness: The Way Forward
Tebboune stressed that Algeria’s economic vision is rooted in diversification and competitiveness, free from bureaucratic impediments that have historically hampered growth. “We are betting on a diversified economy and competitiveness liberated from administrative burdens,” he affirmed.
He called on operators to adopt more dynamic production systems, including three-shift models in industries where demand is high, in order to boost output and raise Algeria’s export capacity. Crucially, he reiterated that there is no distinction between public and private operators: all share equal responsibility in driving national economic growth and honoring Algeria’s international commitments.
Education as a Social Pillar
In parallel with economic reforms, Tebboune reassured the nation that Algeria would not compromise its social character, emphasizing that the State will never renounce free education, despite the heavy financial burden it places on public budgets. He recalled Algeria’s historic achievement in eradicating illiteracy since independence, underscoring education as a cornerstone of social justice and national development.
A Continental Strategy and the Role of Youth
Positioning Algeria as a key continental player, Tebboune highlighted the government’s support for young entrepreneurs and innovative projects. In this context, he announced the creation of an African Fund for Startups, designed to provide financing for youth-led initiatives across the continent. This measure, he argued, would not only serve Algeria’s domestic development but also enhance its leadership in Africa’s emerging markets.
Concluding his address, the President urged all stakeholders — economic operators, government agencies, and financial institutions — to ensure the concrete implementation of the contracts signed during IATF 2025. He further called for Algeria’s stronger participation in regional and continental trade events, stressing the importance of consolidating market shares across Africa and leveraging every opportunity for deeper economic integration.
“The IATF 2025 was not only a fair but a catalyst for Algeria’s continental ambitions. It is now up to us — government and operators alike — to translate this success into sustainable economic achievements, diversify our economy, and strengthen Algeria’s position as a credible and trustworthy partner,” Tebboune concluded.
