Algiers, Algeria | July 4th, 2025 —  On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Algeria’s independence and the restoration of national sovereignty, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune delivered a powerful and patriotic message to the Algerian people, invoking the sacrifices of the martyrs, reaffirming the nation’s achievements since liberation, and calling for unwavering vigilance in the face of global challenges.

Beginning his address with a solemn invocation, “In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger,” the President emphasized the profound significance of July 5 in Algeria’s collective memory. This historic date, he declared, represents the end of a brutal colonial era and the triumph of a people whose unwavering commitment to their homeland culminated in victory over oppression.

“Today, as we commemorate this glorious anniversary,” the President stated, “we rekindle the memory of the epic sacrifices made by generations of patriots who defied colonial tyranny and offered their lives for the freedom of Algeria.”

He praised the valor of the Algerian people whose resistance to occupation was marked by unrelenting waves of martyrdom, ultimately achieving a radiant victory. The President underlined that since independence, Algeria has remained steadfast in honoring its heroic past, continuously drawing strength from the legacy of the Revolution to shape its national identity and future trajectory.

“The valorization of these immortal milestones,” he noted, “stems from loyalty to the blood that was shed for the nation’s dignity and to the memory of the pure souls who died to protect our land, sky, and the future of our children.”

President Tebboune highlighted that the contemporary Algerian state, built on the pillars of sovereignty and unity, is navigating a new phase of development—one characterized by reform, resilience, and self-reliance. He acknowledged the structural progress achieved, particularly in the consolidation of institutions, the defense of citizens’ interests, and the advancement of genuine citizenship rooted in democratic values.

He further affirmed Algeria’s firm engagement in confronting today’s complex global challenges with “renewed vision, unwavering ambition, and full confidence in the strength and capacities of its people.”

In a moment of reflection, President Tebboune reminded citizens that the celebration of independence is not merely a remembrance of past victories but a call to national introspection amid mounting international turbulence. “This anniversary,” he said, “also compels us to contemplate the rapid transformations reshaping the world and reminds us that cohesion, solidarity, and patriotic vigilance remain the most secure ramparts against upheavals and foreign ambitions.”

He praised the historical commitment of the Algerian people to national unity and resilience, citing their steadfastness across generations as an inspiring model for other nations. The President also extended warm greetings to war veterans—both moudjahidine and moudjahidate—and to all segments of Algerian society, especially the youth, as Independence Day coincides with National Youth Day.

With heartfelt gratitude, he paid tribute to the People’s National Army (ANP), the noble heir of the National Liberation Army (ALN), as well as all security and civil protection forces safeguarding the country’s stability and sovereignty.

In conclusion, President Tebboune urged all Algerians to intensify their efforts, renew their dedication, and remain vigilant in defending the values for which the nation’s martyrs made the ultimate sacrifice. His final words echoed with resolve:

“Long live free and dignified Algeria. Glory and eternity to our valiant martyrs.”
