President Tebboune Charts a Strategic Roadmap for the Ghrieb Government

Algiers – September 2025 – In a move underscoring the beginning of a new phase in Algeria’s governance, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his dual capacity as Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence, presided on Sunday over a Council of Ministers meeting that set the tone for the mandate of Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb’s newly confirmed cabinet.
This meeting, the first since the installation of Ghrieb’s government, comes in the wake of a reshuffled cabinet marked by the injection of fresh energy and the reorganization of key ministerial portfolios. It signaled not only continuity but also the President’s determination to recalibrate executive action in line with his broader national project.
President Tebboune, outlining his roadmap, stressed that the government’s mission is inseparable from service to the citizen and the promotion of participatory democracy. He urged his ministers to act in full coordination, insisting that efficiency and coherence across all departments are indispensable for achieving resilience in every sector.
In a striking message to the executive, Tebboune called for lessons to be drawn from past shortcomings, making it clear that the era of half-measures and temporary fixes must end. “Algeria does not progress through austerity but through intelligent management, which lies at the heart of the presidential project aimed at elevating our country to the rank of emerging economies,” he affirmed.
The President further reminded the ministers that the credibility of government action must be earned through tangible solutions that directly address the concerns of the people. He underscored that true progress is rooted in the contributions of Algerian citizens themselves, urging his team to strengthen the domestic front by building public trust through competence, pragmatism, and results.
Equally, Tebboune charged his ministers with the duty of working in close coordination with Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, stressing that the premiership is the fulcrum around which collective governmental action must revolve. Sector-specific proposals and detailed action plans are to be developed and presented at upcoming Council of Ministers meetings, setting a clear pace for the government’s performance.
