President Tebboune Directs Strategic Water Projects, Comprehensive Ramadan Preparations to Ensure Citizen Welfare

Opening the session with a comprehensive briefing on governmental activities over the past two weeks, President Tebboune directed the Ministry of Hydraulics to immediately commence the construction of two critical desalination plants in Tamanrasset and Tindouf, slated for completion next month. These facilities are designed to provide reliable access to potable water for populations in Algeria’s Grand Sud, highlighting their strategic significance for regional development. Additionally, a new wastewater treatment and purification station will be established in Tindouf, primarily to support promising agricultural projects. The President also mandated enhanced oversight and preventive measures regarding the release of excess water from full dams, emphasizing vigilance and accountability at all operational levels.

Addressing recent disruptions, Tebboune condemned the water outage experienced by residents of Chlef as wholly unacceptable, stressing full accountability for responsible parties. He issued stern warnings against any negligence that could compromise the integrity of national water distribution plans, underscoring the non-negotiable nature of continuous service delivery throughout the year.

Turning to preparations for Ramadan, the President called for exhaustive measures to ensure citizens experience the holy month with comfort and serenity, recognizing the period’s spiritual significance and its role in strengthening societal cooperation and solidarity. Tebboune stressed the necessity for heightened governmental responsibility to respond proactively to public needs, particularly in ensuring that the abundant availability of essential agricultural and animal-origin products translates into stable and fair pricing for consumers.

The session also reviewed the advancement of complementary programs in the wilayas of Khenchela, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, and Tindouf, with the President praising the completion of all projects within designated timelines. In a forward-looking directive, he instructed the government to prepare new complementary programs targeting Algeria’s least developed wilayas, particularly newly established administrative regions, thereby reinforcing equitable development and inclusive growth across the national territory.
