ALGIERS- In keeping with his longstanding tradition of engaging with the Algerian diaspora during official visits abroad, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune met with representatives of the national community established in China on Thursday. The meeting, held as part of the President’s ongoing state visit to China, provided a platform for students, businessmen, and other Algerian residents to voice their concerns and seek answers to pressing questions on various matters.
Expressing great satisfaction with the outcomes of his state visit, President Tebboune hailed the “very positive” results achieved in China. Emphasizing the significance of the projects and agreements signed with China, he lauded them as substantial and mutually beneficial for both nations.
A major highlight of the visit was the commitment to intensify the exchange of student delegations between Algeria and China. This move is aimed at fostering greater educational collaboration and facilitating cultural understanding. The President also revealed that the Chinese government had agreed to strengthen tourism between the two countries, bolstering the people-to-people interactions.
During his address to the Algerian community in China, President Tebboune stressed Algeria’s eagerness to elevate economic relations with China to match the historically strong political ties that exist between the two nations. Notably, he cited Algeria’s rising economic evolution, with domestic products increasingly meeting international demands and gaining recognition in global markets.
In his remarks, President Tebboune declared, “The actions undertaken thus far have been solely in the interest of our people, and Algeria has now regained its rightful position on the global stage, particularly among great powers and friendly countries.” He underscored Algeria’s amicable relationships with China, Turkey, Russia, Qatar, as well as various European allies, including Italy and Portugal.
The President also expressed his appreciation for the positive image of the Algerian community in China, praising them as an elite group with proven skills, comparable to their compatriots in Turkey, Portugal, and Russia. Their contributions, he noted, play a significant role in strengthening Algeria’s connections with other nations.
President Tebboune’ state visit to China marks a milestone in the continuing efforts to build robust partnerships and capitalize on shared interests. By engaging with the Algerian community in China and addressing their concerns directly, the President demonstrated a commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that the voices of Algerians abroad are heard and valued.
