President Tebboune Extends Condolences Following Tragic Civil Protection Helicopter Crash in Jijel

Algiers, Algeria | In the wake of a tragic aviation incident that claimed the lives of four individuals, including a foreign instructor, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has expressed his heartfelt condolences and deep solidarity with the families of the victims and the entire Civil Protection corps. The helicopter, operated by Algeria’s Civil Protection, crashed on Tuesday shortly after takeoff from Ferhat Abbas Airport in the province of Jijel, during what was confirmed to be a routine training mission.

The nation was struck with sorrow as the news broke, prompting the Head of State to issue a solemn message acknowledging the profound sacrifice made by the crew, who lost their lives in the line of duty. “It is with deep sorrow and heavy emotion that I received the news of the crash of the Civil Protection helicopter, which occurred following its departure from Jijel airport during a training mission, resulting in the loss of its crew members, including an instructor of foreign nationality,” President Tebboune wrote.

In his message, the President paid tribute to the fallen heroes, emphasizing the nobility of their mission and the humanitarian essence of their profession. “On this painful occasion, I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to all personnel and officers of the Civil Protection,” he stated. He prayed for divine mercy upon the deceased, whom he referred to as “martyrs of a noble humanitarian vocation,” and invoked strength and patience for their loved ones in this time of collective grief.
