President Tebboune Extends Official Welcome to Mozambican Counterpart Daniel Francisco Chapo in Algiers

Algiers – September 2025 – In a ceremony imbued with solemnity and symbolism, President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune accorded, on Saturday, an official welcome to his Mozambican counterpart, Daniel Francisco Chapo, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic in Algiers.
The two Heads of State stood for the national anthems of Algeria and Mozambique before reviewing detachments of the People’s National Army, which rendered them full honors. The formal proceedings concluded with a commemorative photograph, encapsulating the spirit of fraternity and diplomatic esteem marking this high-level encounter.
President Chapo’s working visit to Algeria comes in conjunction with his participation in the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF-2025), hosted in Algiers. Beyond the economic agenda, the visit carried profound historical resonance. Earlier in the day, the Mozambican leader paid tribute at the Sanctuary of the Martyr, honoring the memory of the heroes of Algeria’s War of National Liberation—a gesture underscoring the shared legacy of anti-colonial struggle that binds Algeria and Mozambique.
Following this solemn homage, President Chapo toured the National Museum of the Mujahid, where he was presented with detailed accounts of the defining stages of Algeria’s modern history, particularly the epic of the Liberation War. The visit offered a moment of reflection on the sacrifices that laid the foundation for Algeria’s sovereignty and the broader ideals of African emancipation.
