Algiers, Algeria | June 15th, 2025 — In a high-level Cabinet meeting held on Sunday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, issued a series of firm and forward-looking directives aimed at accelerating national development across agriculture, diaspora services, and women’s economic empowerment.

The meeting addressed critical national matters, including preparations for the 2025 harvest season, arrangements for welcoming the national diaspora during the summer, mechanisms for supporting women victims of violence, and criteria for benefiting from the productive family programme.

Raising the Bar for the 2025 Harvest

With clear resolve, President Tebboune called for stricter execution and tangible outcomes in the 2025 harvest season, ordering results to surpass those of the 2024 campaign. He emphasized that a comprehensive assessment meeting be held at the close of the harvest to evaluate achievements and recognize genuine field efforts—not ceremonial displays.

The President mandated a complete restructuring and reinforcement of the agricultural sector’s organizational framework, including its subsidiary directorates. He stressed the need to highlight the work of authentic agricultural contributors, dismissing superficial or honorary roles that hinder the sector’s development.

Streamlining Repatriation and Supporting the National Diaspora

As Algeria prepares for the summer travel season, President Tebboune underscored the need for exceptional care and hospitality for members of the national diaspora at airports and seaports. He instructed the government to simplify entry procedures for all holders of Algerian passports, ensuring their return to the homeland is both dignified and seamless.

These measures, he noted, are not only a matter of logistical necessity but of national duty and symbolic recognition of the diaspora’s enduring connection to Algeria.

Empowering Women and Supporting Productive Family Enterprises

Among the most impactful directives was the President’s strong reaffirmation of support for Algerian women, particularly those involved in productive family projects. Citing the high repayment rates on microloans granted to women, President Tebboune lauded their discipline, commitment, and honesty, describing these indicators as proof of the integrity and resilience of Algerian women.

The Head of State ordered the intensification of support mechanisms for female entrepreneurs and expanded opportunities for family-run enterprises to scale their operations and establish a viable economic segment that contributes directly to Algeria’s national economy.

“Women are not just half of society—they are its pillar,” declared President Tebboune. He insisted that the empowerment of women must align with Algeria’s cultural traditions, allowing them to affirm their place in political, economic, and social life.

In particular, rural women were highlighted as key drivers of traditional production sectors. With rising national and international demand for Algerian artisanal products, Tebboune called for uninterrupted encouragement of rural women, recognizing their role in preserving cultural heritage and stimulating rural economies.

Protecting Women Victims of Violence

The Cabinet also examined mechanisms for supporting women victims of violence. President Tebboune reaffirmed the state’s commitment to defending women’s rights and enhancing their role in society. He emphasized the importance of preserving the social fabric through the protection of vulnerable women and reaffirmed that Algeria is steadily progressing in recognizing and promoting women’s rights across all sectors.

The Cabinet meeting concluded with the approval of several executive decrees, including the termination of high-ranking officials from their posts, as part of a broader effort to streamline governance and promote administrative efficiency.
