President Tebboune Presides Over Celebration of People’s National Army Day

Algiers, Algeria |  Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, presided on Monday afternoon over the official ceremony marking the People’s National Army Day. The commemoration was held at the National Army Circle in Beni Messous, Algiers, and coincided with the annual celebration observed on August 4.

This year’s event was held under the theme: “The People’s National Army, Loyal Heir and Solid Shield.”

On this occasion, President Tebboune led a solemn ceremony in honour of retired members of the People’s National Army, particularly veterans of the historic National Liberation Army (ALN), as well as the families of fallen martyrs of national duty, and severely wounded and disabled veterans who fought in the framework of counterterrorism operations.

Upon his arrival at the Army Circle, the Head of State was welcomed by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Army General Saïd Chanegriha.

President Tebboune reviewed a military formation from the People’s National Army that rendered him honours before he greeted senior officers of the armed forces.

The ceremony stood as a powerful affirmation of the continuity between the National Liberation Army and the modern People’s National Army, underscoring its enduring role as both the guardian of Algeria’s independence and the custodian of its revolutionary legacy.
