ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed, on Wednesday, his personal commitment to enhancing the content of the special status and remuneration system for specific bodies within the National Education sector.

Addressing concerns raised by unions associated with the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) on International Workers’ Day, the President stressed that this special status should be tailored specifically to educators, distinct from civil servants.

“I have instructed the Minister of National Education to draft a specific statute for educators and teachers, separate from civil servants, to safeguard the rights of all teachers,” President Tebboune stated.

In reaffirming his commitment to this sector, the President emphasized that he personally ensures the enrichment of this status to meet the expectations of education sector employees, particularly those who dedicate themselves to educating Algeria’s children.

“We Must Not Offer Teachers a Poisoned Gift,” Tebboune remarked. “I requested its revision because it does not meet the expectations of teachers. We must not offer them a poisoned gift but a useful gift for what they contribute to educating generations.”

It is noteworthy that during the Council of Ministers on February 18th, the President ordered the postponement of the presentation on the special status and remuneration system for specific bodies within the National Education sector. He directed a deeper study to improve its content, emphasizing that the teacher is an educator before being a civil servant.
