ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, where several crucial decisions and directives were issued, addressing various national issues. The decisions aim to provide better oversight and regulation of the examined activities. Here are the key highlights:

1. Continuous Market Surveillance:
After reviewing measures taken to ensure the availability of essential consumer goods, the President emphasized the crucial importance of continuous market surveillance. The state places high value on control and awareness of the availability levels of essential consumer goods. The proactive vision aims to combat speculation forcefully with the full weight of the law.

2. Rigorous Inspection of Imported Meats:
The President instructed the Minister of Agriculture to prioritize sanitary control of imported products. This involves establishing analysis laboratories at ports and airports to ensure compliance with sanitary standards during the importation of meat and food items.

3. Postponement of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Law:
The President decided to postpone the Public-Private Partnership law project to allow for in-depth examination and maturation.

4. Guidance on Entrepreneurial Status:
President Tebboune provided guidance on the status of auto-entrepreneurs, emphasizing the need to avoid overlaps between entrepreneurial professions and certain independent artisanal professions. The auto-entrepreneur status is designed to regulate a wide range of activities, including business services, consultancy, and training. Auto-entrepreneurs are expected to benefit from preferential tax treatment in line with the 2024 Finance Law.

5. Benefits of Auto-Entrepreneur Status:
The President highlighted the advantages of the auto-entrepreneur status, including exemption from the obligation to register in the commercial registry. Instead, auto-entrepreneurs will maintain their accounts through a numbered and stamped register, providing them with fiscal advantages and social security coverage.

6. Acceleration of Hassi Messaoud Oil Refinery Project:
President Tebboune ordered the swift completion and operationalization of the new oil refinery in Hassi Messaoud. This directive aims to enhance national production of gasoline and diesel, with a strategic focus on exportation.

7. Media Campaign for Auto-Entrepreneur Status:
Emphasizing the importance of the auto-entrepreneur status, the President called for a comprehensive media campaign to attract young entrepreneurs.

These decisions reflect the government’s commitment to addressing economic and social challenges, promoting entrepreneurship, and ensuring the nation’s self-sufficiency in critical sectors.
