Presidential Prize for the Innovative Researcher: Algeria Opens Candidatures for the 2026 Edition

Algiers – November 2025 – In a new step reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to elevating scientific excellence and consolidating an economy driven by knowledge and innovation, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research officially launched on Sunday at 15:00 the digital platform dedicated to the 2026 edition of the “Presidential Prize for the Innovative Researcher.” This prestigious national distinction stands as one of the highest recognitions awarded to researchers who contribute to advancing scientific progress, technological development, and innovation with tangible societal impact.
The prize, designed to reward breakthrough research and encourage creative, high-value innovation, aims to stimulate a dynamic scientific ecosystem capable of positioning Algeria at the forefront of emerging knowledge economies. By opening the competition not only to university teacher-researchers but also to students, the Ministry underscores its determination to cultivate excellence at all levels, nurturing the next generation of innovators capable of shaping the country’s scientific and technological future.
Candidates have until 16 March 2026 to submit their applications through the newly launched platform. The selection process will culminate on 16 April 2026, coinciding symbolically with La Journée Nationale du Savoir—a date that pays tribute to the legacy of knowledge, enlightenment, and scholarly achievement in Algeria. This alignment reflects the state’s desire to anchor the spirit of scientific accomplishment within the nation’s collective memory and cultural identity.
Projects submitted for this edition must cover a wide spectrum of fields, embracing the breadth of contemporary research challenges and opportunities. Eligible domains include sciences and technologies, health, environment, and social sciences, among others, mirroring the multidimensional nature of national development priorities and the importance of cross-disciplinary approaches. The diversity of acceptable research themes further signals Algeria’s strategic orientation toward comprehensive innovation that addresses societal needs, environmental imperatives, and economic competitiveness.
