Tebboune, Lukashenko Reaffirm Strategic Commitment to Deepen Algerian-Belarusian Partnership

Algiers – December 2025 – In a joint declaration delivered at the conclusion of high-level bilateral talks, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, affirmed their shared determination to elevate Algerian-Belarusian relations to a new strategic threshold. President Tebboune described Lukashenko’s visit to Algeria as a tangible manifestation of a mutual political will to consolidate existing ties and expand cooperation across emerging sectors of common interest.
The Algerian head of state underscored the symbolic significance of the timing of the visit, marked by two milestones in the trajectory of bilateral relations. First, the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Republic of Belarus—a historic chapter that Tebboune praised for its political and diplomatic resonance. Second, the convening in Minsk of the inaugural session of the mixed governmental commission, which concluded with encouraging results and laid the groundwork for future institutional cooperation. Tebboune announced that the second session, to be held in Algeria in the coming weeks, will offer a pivotal opportunity to widen the spectrum of joint endeavors and address structural challenges, particularly those posed by geographic distance.
Expressing satisfaction with the outcomes of his exchanges with Lukashenko, President Tebboune confirmed that both leaders conducted a comprehensive assessment of progress achieved thus far and defined the broad contours of a roadmap for 2026–2027. This strategic framework spans key and sensitive sectors of national importance, including agriculture, healthcare and veterinary sciences, mechanical industries, pharmaceuticals, energy, and scientific research. He welcomed the signing of a series of cooperation agreements, describing them as instruments that propel Algerian-Belarusian partnership onto a promising and sustainable trajectory supported by solid institutional frameworks.
The President also welcomed the results of the business forum held on the sidelines of the visit, noting that it constitutes a catalyst for intensifying commercial exchanges and advancing joint economic initiatives capable of generating tangible outcomes for both sides.
On the international stage, the two heads of state exchanged substantive assessments on a range of regional and global issues. President Tebboune reiterated that no durable peace in the Middle East can be envisioned without a just solution that restores the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and culminates in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He further reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering position on the Libyan crisis, calling for a political solution based on intra-Libyan dialogue, the organization of elections, and a categorical rejection of all foreign interference. Tebboune likewise reiterated Algeria’s principled stance on Western Sahara, advocating a just political settlement consistent with international legality, ensuring the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination, while supporting the efforts led by the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General.
The leaders also addressed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, exchanging views on its broader geopolitical implications. Both presidents expressed a shared conviction that dialogue and negotiation remain the sole viable pathway to preventing escalation and achieving a peaceful resolution anchored in international cooperation and the foundational principles of the United Nations Charter.
