Algiers, Algeria | June 24th, 2025 — Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui received on Tuesday, at the Government Palace in Algiers, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Portugal, José João Abrantes, who is on an official working visit to Algeria.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, both parties expressed their satisfaction with the “privileged level of relations between the two friendly countries,” reaffirming that these ties are rooted in “a shared history of struggle that unites Algeria and Portugal.” The meeting served as an occasion to reiterate the firm political will of both nations to advance and consolidate their cooperation and partnership frameworks.

Larbaoui and Abrantes emphasized the importance of actively implementing bilateral activities and programs, particularly those stemming from the state visit made by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Portugal in May 2023. That visit laid the groundwork for strategic collaboration across multiple sectors, including institutional, legal, and constitutional domains.

Furthermore, both sides highlighted the necessity of enhancing bilateral cooperation between their respective constitutional institutions. This includes boosting the exchange of visits, fostering direct dialogue, and reinforcing institutional contact in line with the dynamic momentum that currently characterizes Algerian-Portuguese relations across various fields.
