Algiers, Algeria | June 14th, 2025 — On behalf of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui presided on Saturday over the President of the Republic’s Prize for Young Creators “Ali Maâchi”, held at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC) in Algiers. The ceremony coincided with Algeria’s annual National Artist Day, observed on June 8, a date that commemorates the sacrifices and contributions of artists to the nation’s cultural and historical identity.

This event, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Arts under the patronage of President Tebboune, underscores Algeria’s unwavering commitment to supporting artistic innovation, nurturing young talent, and embedding culture at the heart of national development.

A Vision Rooted in Cultural Sovereignty

The prize—named after martyred poet and national symbol Ali Maâchi—represents more than a celebration of youthful artistic achievement; it embodies a state policy focused on reviving cultural production, reinforcing creative freedoms, and elevating Algeria’s cultural presence on the international stage. The President’s support reflects a long-standing vision for a society that encourages artistic excellence and literary expression, while safeguarding heritage and identity.

In his keynote remarks, delivered on behalf of the Head of State, Prime Minister Larbaoui reaffirmed Algeria’s strategic commitment to empowering artists as cultural ambassadors and catalysts for renewal. “The creative spirit of our youth is one of the most valuable national assets. It is through their pens, voices, and visions that our cultural sovereignty flourishes,” he stated.

This year’s edition of the Ali Maâchi Prize distinguished young Algerians who excelled in a wide range of artistic and literary fields, including novel writing, poetry, theatrical performance, dramaturgy, cinema, music, and visual arts. The award recognizes originality, mastery, and cultural relevance, offering not only national recognition but also vital encouragement to pursue a professional artistic path.

Winners received certificates of distinction, financial grants, and the endorsement of national cultural institutions to facilitate their future projects. For many, this award serves as a launchpad to wider acclaim—both within Algeria and abroad.
