Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb Inspects Eastern Mining Rail Project in Souk Ahras

๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ โ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ป๐พ๐ช๐ป๐ ๐๐๐๐ โย Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb conducted a field visit on Sunday to the wilaya of Souk Ahras to assess the progress of works on the Eastern Mining Railway Line, one of the most strategic infrastructure projects shaping the economic future of eastern Algeria.
According to a statement released by the Prime Ministerโs services, the visit was carried out on the instructions of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and aimed at monitoring the advancement of the project involving the duplication, realignment and modernisation of the Eastern Mining Line. The initiative forms part of a broader national vision to strengthen transport infrastructure and consolidate Algeriaโs logistical and industrial capabilities.
Stretching over a total distance of 422 kilometres, the Eastern Mining Line links Annaba to Bled El Hedba, passing through Bouchegouf, Tรฉbessa and Djebel El Onk. The project is designed to modernise railway transport, increase capacity and ensure the safe and efficient movement of passengers and goods, with particular emphasis on supporting mining and industrial activities.
The Prime Ministerโs inspection focused on the BouchegoufโDrea section within the wilaya of Souk Ahras, spanning 121 kilometres and featuring major engineering structures. Among the most prominent are tunnel No. 8, extending over 2,175 metres, and bridge No. 39, measuring 1,354.2 metres in length. During the visit, Ghrieb stressed the imperative of rigorous monitoring across all phases of implementation, while ensuring strict compliance with safety and quality standards.
Prime Minister Ghrieb underscored that the project represents a powerful economic and developmental lever for the eastern region. He highlighted its role in improving inter-wilaya connectivity, facilitating the transport of raw materials and finished products, supporting local investment and reinforcing economic and social development. He further reiterated his firm commitment to enforcing the Presidentโs instructions to ensure the completion of the project before the end of the year, placing particular emphasis on effective coordination among all sectors involved.
The Prime Minister was accompanied on this visit by the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saรฏd Sayoud; the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui; and the Minister of Moudjahidine and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tachefrit, reflecting the cross-sectoral importance attached to this major national project.
