Algeria, Qatar Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation as Shura Council and People’s National Assembly Sign Strategic MoU

Algiers – December 2025 – In Doha, a high-level session of official talks between the Shura Council of Qatar and Algeria’s People’s National Assembly underscored the growing momentum in parliamentary cooperation between the two nations, culminating in the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding aimed at deepening coordination and institutional dialogue.
The meeting, reported by The Peninsula Qatar, was chaired on the Qatari side by Speaker of the Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, while the Algerian delegation was led by Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly.
Opening the session, Al Ghanim emphasized that Boughali’s visit reflects the “depth of the brotherly relations” uniting Qatar and Algeria, noting that bilateral ties have been expanding at all levels in recent years. His remarks highlighted the shared determination of both states to elevate their cooperation in the parliamentary sphere, in sync with the broader diplomatic, economic, and cultural partnership that connects the two countries.
For his part, Boughali expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by Qatar, recalling the longstanding and deeply rooted ties joining the two sisterly nations. He praised the steady cooperation that spans various sectors and lauded Qatar’s striking development achievements. Boughali emphasized that Qatar’s political, economic, and sports successes constitute a model of progress from which many nations in the region can draw inspiration.
Throughout the discussions, both sides delved into mechanisms to reinforce parliamentary collaboration, highlighting the importance of synchronizing positions in regional and international parliamentary forums. They also stressed the value of sharing expertise, exchanging legislative experiences, and increasing reciprocal visits to consolidate institutional bonds and advance the aspirations of both nations and their peoples.
The session concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding designed to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two legislative bodies. The MoU sets forth a framework for structured exchange of expertise, strengthened dialogue, and expanded parliamentary visits—marking a significant step in fortifying the strategic partnership between Qatar and Algeria.
