The Tunisian National Railways Company announced the commencement of a trial run from Annaba to Tunis, emphasizing the renewed commitment to regional connectivity.

The proposed extension of the Alger-Tunis line to Libya, alongside the trans-Saharan railway from Algiers to Tamanrasset slated for operational readiness by 2027, is expected to enhance regional freight capacities significantly. These projects hold strategic importance as all three countries are signatories to the AfCFTA integration convention.
