Relentless Counterterrorism Operations: Algerian Army Neutralizes Six Terrorists and Dismantles Networks of Support

Algiers – October 2025 – In a decisive demonstration of vigilance and resolve, the People’s National Army (ANP) has struck a severe blow to terrorist remnants and their logistical networks. Between September 24 and 30, 2025, elite detachments of the ANP eliminated six terrorists in a high-profile operation in Tebessa, within the 5th Military Region, while simultaneously dismantling support cells across the national territory. The operation yielded six Kalashnikov submachine guns, considerable quantities of ammunition, and various combat equipment, underscoring the continued capacity of the Army to paralyze armed groups attempting to destabilize the country.
The Army’s operational report further revealed the arrest of nine elements providing logistical and material assistance to terrorist factions, demonstrating once more that the Algerian state is systematically eradicating both the armed wings and their support infrastructures.
Parallel to its counterterrorism campaign, the ANP maintained relentless efforts against organized crime, notably drug trafficking emanating from Morocco. Combined Army units, in coordination with security services, intercepted twenty-eight narcotraffickers and foiled attempts to smuggle over eight quintals of processed cannabis, in addition to seizing more than 170,000 psychotropic tablets.
Operations in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, In Guezzam, Djanet, and Illizi led to the arrest of 529 individuals implicated in illicit gold mining, with seizures including 23 vehicles, 327 power generators, 220 jackhammers, metal detectors, and significant amounts of crude gold mixtures.
The fight against smuggling yielded further results, with security forces seizing heavy weaponry—including a machine gun, multiple assault rifles, and thousands of liters of contraband fuel—alongside massive quantities of tobacco and foodstuffs intended for black-market speculation.
Meanwhile, naval units of the Coast Guard intensified their patrols to thwart clandestine migration attempts. Their interventions led to the rescue of 514 migrants adrift in makeshift boats, while inland operations resulted in the arrest of 671 illegal immigrants of diverse nationalities.
This sweeping set of operations testifies not only to the ANP’s unyielding commitment to safeguarding national security but also to Algeria’s broader determination to confront, with iron resolve, the intertwined threats of terrorism, transnational crime, and illicit migration.
