Resumption of Flights at In Salah Airport: A New Era of Connectivity Begins

In-Salah, August 21, 2023– The skies above In-Salah are once again bustling with the promise of adventure and connectivity as flights resume at the rejuvenated In Salah airport. The triumphant return of flights was marked by a soaring ATR aircraft from Air Algérie, signifying the revival of air travel in the region. After an impressive ten-month-long endeavor to fortify the airstrip and expand airport infrastructure, the resumption of flights brings a renewed sense of optimism to both local citizens and global travelers.

The meticulous refurbishment work undertaken at In Salah airport was aimed at strengthening the very foundations that underpin safe and seamless air travel. The culmination of these efforts allows the airport’s airfield parking space to now graciously accommodate up to six jumbo jets, a remarkable enhancement that promises to expedite travel and bolster economic opportunities for the region.

Mohamed Azzaoui, the Director of Aeronautical Security at In Salah airport, shared his aspirations for an amplified air service network that can effectively unlock the potential of the region. He emphasized the airport’s commitment not only to facilitating movement but also to addressing the concerns of the local populace.

Ahcène Bouzoui, the Transport Director of In Salah, lauded the resumption of services as a monumental achievement that resonates deeply with the aspirations of the youthful wilaya. This development serves as a testament to the concerted efforts and strategic vision that In Salah has upheld.

Highlighting the airport’s commitment to holistic growth, Bouzoui also revealed plans for two pivotal development operations. These initiatives encompass the expansion of the terminal to accommodate increasing passenger traffic and an upgrade to access and parking facilities to ensure a seamless travel experience from arrival to departure.

Embarking on a journey of progress, the revived In Salah airport is set to initiate flights twice a week, with scheduled departures on Mondays and Thursdays. This reconnection between the “Houari Boumediene” airport in Algiers and In Salah promises convenience and efficiency for travelers, fostering ties between urban centers and remote regions.

As the inaugural flights take to the skies, the residents of In Salah eagerly anticipate more offerings in the near future. The prospect of expanding services to include destinations like Constantine, Oran, El-Oued, and Ghardaïa is welcomed with fervor by the local community.
