Return of the Algerian Participants in the “Soumoud Flotilla”: A Symbol of National Solidarity with Palestine

Algiers – October 2025 – Eleven Algerian citizens who took part in the “Soumoud Flotilla,” a humanitarian initiative of solidarity with the people of Gaza, arrived in Algiers on Thursday. Their return marks a deeply symbolic moment reflecting Algeria’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the unity of its citizens behind this historic struggle for freedom and dignity.
The group, repatriated from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, landed at Houari Boumediene International Airport, where they were warmly received by Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad. Their return was made possible through the direct intervention and supervision of the Algerian embassy in Amman, which ensured their safe passage and provided continuous assistance throughout the evacuation process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs had announced earlier this week that the eleven participants would be evacuated via Jordanian territory following close coordination between Algerian and Jordanian authorities. This cooperation was carried out at the express request of Algeria, underscoring the fraternal ties and mutual respect binding the two nations.
According to the Ministry, the Algerian mission in Amman closely monitored every stage of the operation, ensuring that all logistical and humanitarian measures were in place to safeguard the well-being of the returning nationals. This meticulous coordination stands as a testament to Algeria’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, in strict accordance with the directives issued by the country’s highest authorities.
The “Soumoud Flotilla” — whose very name evokes steadfastness and resilience — aimed to deliver aid and express solidarity with the besieged Palestinian population in Gaza. Although the mission faced significant obstacles, the return of the Algerian participants was met with national pride and emotional resonance, seen as yet another manifestation of Algeria’s enduring position in defense of just causes and oppressed peoples.
