Saïd Sayoud Reinforces the State’s Commitment to Public Security and Administrative Efficiency: A Comprehensive Roadmap for Strengthening Citizen Safety, Modernizing Local Governance, and Enhancing Public Service Performance

Algiers – October 2025 – In an affirmation of the state’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ well-being and improving the quality of public services, Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, chaired on Saturday a high-level coordination meeting with senior officials of his sector at the Government Palace. The session focused on providing strategic directives aimed at enhancing the performance of public institutions and ensuring the swift handling of citizens’ concerns across the national territory.
Aligning Sectoral Action with Presidential Directives
Opening the meeting, Minister Sayoud underscored that the sector’s priorities stem directly from the instructions of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, particularly those emphasizing close monitoring of citizens’ concerns and prompt institutional response, as well as supporting the vigorous economic momentum currently unfolding across the country — with a particular focus on accelerating the pace of exports and improving the overall competitiveness of the national economy.
He urged greater field engagement and stronger oversight to improve the performance of public facilities directly linked to citizens’ daily lives — notably community healthcare, education, and water supply networks. The minister further emphasized the need for transparency and proactive communication, instructing local authorities to inform citizens in advance of any disruptions or adjustments in public service schedules.
Special attention, Sayoud noted, must be given to southern provinces, where authorities are urged to adopt a forward-looking approach to prevent potential supply disruptions, accelerate ongoing road projects, and ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the construction phases.
Public Safety and Civil Peace as the Foremost Priority
Reiterating the centrality of security and stability, Sayoud declared that public tranquility and citizen safety remain at the forefront of the ministry’s priorities. He commended the efficiency and professionalism of security services in countering manifestations of societal violence, while announcing additional measures to reinforce security presence, particularly around educational and university institutions.
The minister also called for the strict enforcement of legal and regulatory frameworks to improve road safety and reduce traffic-related fatalities, highlighting that protecting lives and maintaining social order form the backbone of a resilient nation.
Institutional Dialogue and Local Development Synergy
Sayoud placed strong emphasis on continuous communication with local elected officials and members of parliament, in line with President Tebboune’s directives to establish regular consultation sessions. These meetings, he explained, are essential for fostering participatory governance and for tailoring local development strategies to the needs of each community.
In this regard, he issued firm instructions to accelerate the implementation of recommendations stemming from the National Conference on Public Cleanliness and Urban Improvement, including a nationwide assessment of sanitation conditions in all provinces to ensure cleaner, healthier urban environments.
Transport Sector Reform and Modernization Drive
The minister also reviewed the state of progress across various transport branches, stressing the urgency of enhancing railway services, eliminating delays and technical malfunctions within a one-month timeframe, and presenting an interim report on the progress of the “Coradia” train rehabilitation program.
Praising the notable improvements in domestic air transport, Sayoud announced the launch of a new flight schedule starting October 26, aimed at supporting the Saharan tourism season and strengthening regional connectivity.
He also commended the positive results achieved in maritime transport, both for passengers and cargo, urging the continuation of reforms and the adoption of a competitive strategy that boosts exports and supports economic operators. As for road transport, Sayoud instructed the close monitoring of the public bus renewal and import program, ensuring strict adherence to the established timeline and the phased withdrawal of obsolete vehicles from circulation.
Concluding the meeting, Minister Saïd Sayoud reaffirmed that the ultimate objective remains the protection of citizens and the enhancement of public service quality, reflecting the state’s unwavering commitment to responsive governance, social stability, and efficient local administration.
