Selma Mansouri Meets AUDA-NEPAD Executive Director to Deepen Strategic Cooperation

Algiers – September 2025 – In a high-level diplomatic engagement reflecting Algeria’s growing role in continental development, Bekhta Selma Mansouri, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, in charge of African Affairs, received Nardos Bekele-Thomas, Executive Director of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), hosted in Algiers from September 4 to 10.
The encounter provided a valuable opportunity to discuss ways to consolidate cooperation between Algeria and AUDA-NEPAD, the strategic arm of the African Union tasked with implementing and monitoring flagship continental projects. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating regional integration and advancing Africa’s collective development agenda.
Central to the discussions was the pivotal role of AUDA-NEPAD in the realization of Agenda 2063, the African Union’s long-term vision for prosperity and unity. The talks emphasized key priorities such as infrastructure modernization, enhanced regional connectivity, and youth empowerment—pillars considered indispensable for achieving inclusive and sustainable growth.
Mansouri underscored Algeria’s unwavering support for AUDA-NEPAD’s initiatives, affirming that the country stands ready to contribute to major continental projects, particularly in sectors that strengthen economic resilience, social cohesion, and innovation.
For her part, Bekele-Thomas praised Algeria’s active engagement within the African Union and highlighted the importance of partnerships that translate continental strategies into tangible achievements. She stressed that AUDA-NEPAD’s mission is not only technical but also political, as it aims to strengthen Africa’s sovereignty in shaping its own development path.
