SEMICA Tchad 2026: Algerian–Chadian Strategic Partnership Reinforced at the Highest Level

𝓐𝓵𝓰𝓲𝓮𝓻𝓼 – 𝓙𝓪𝓷𝓾𝓪𝓻𝔂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – On the sidelines of the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries, and Hydrocarbons “SEMICA Tchad 2026,” held in N’Djamena, Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, was received by the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mohamed Idriss Déby Itno. The meeting took place within the framework of Mr. Arkab’s participation in the event as the personal representative of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
During this high-level audience, the Minister of State conveyed an official letter from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his Chadian counterpart, reaffirming Algeria’s firm commitment to strengthening the historic bonds uniting the two nations and peoples, and to deepening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of strategic sectors. The exchange underscored Algeria’s consistent approach of promoting constructive partnerships grounded in mutual respect, shared interests, and African solidarity.
The meeting was attended, on the Algerian side, by the Ambassador of Algeria to the Republic of Chad, the Minister of Industry Mr. Yahia Bachir, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mr. Mourad Adjal, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sonatrach Group Mr. Noureddine Daoudi, and the Chief Executive Officer of the GICA Group Mr. Rabah Guessem, reflecting the multidimensional character of the Algerian delegation and the strategic importance attached to this bilateral engagement.
On this occasion, Mr. Mohamed Arkab expressed Algeria’s sincere appreciation to the Chadian authorities for designating Algeria as the guest of honor of SEMICA Tchad 2026, stressing that this choice constitutes a clear testimony to the depth, strength, and maturity of Algerian–Chadian relations, as well as to the confidence placed in Algeria’s expertise and experience in the fields of energy, mining, and industry.
For his part, President Mohamed Idriss Déby Itno entrusted the Algerian Minister of State with conveying his highest esteem and consideration to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He reiterated Chad’s unwavering determination to further enhance bilateral cooperation with Algeria in all domains, while actively supporting African cooperation and the consolidation of South–South partnerships as key pillars for sustainable development on the continent.
The Chadian President also highlighted the solidity of the historical relations of friendship linking Chad and Algeria, founded on enduring values of trust, solidarity, and mutual support, inspired by the African principles of unity and fraternity. In this context, he praised Algeria’s recognized expertise, particularly in the sectors of hydrocarbons, petrochemicals, mining, and industry, with specific emphasis on cement production, expressing Chad’s strong interest in benefiting from Algerian know-how in these vital and strategic areas.
