Sogral, SNTF Launch Integrated Ticketing at Caroubier Station to Ease Eid Travel Rush

Algiers, Algeria | June 4th, 2025 — In an initiative aimed at enhancing traveler convenience and managing passenger flow during peak periods, the Algerian Intercity Bus Station Management Company (Sogral) has announced that, in coordination with the National Railway Transport Company of Algeria (SNTF), it is enabling the purchase of train tickets directly at Algiers’ Caroubier intercity bus terminal during the three days leading up to Eid El-Adha.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in Algiers by Sogral’s communications officer, who emphasized the initiative as a strategic step toward integrated, multi-modal transport solutions. This measure, he said, is designed to simplify travel logistics for passengers, many of whom rely on multiple transport modes to reach their families for the religious holiday.

“We observed that during Eid, there is exceptionally high demand not only for buses but also for trains,” stated Smail Sadouni, the communications official. “In collaboration with the SNTF, we’ve opened a dedicated train ticket counter at the Caroubier station, allowing passengers to purchase train tickets at the same point where they board or arrive by bus. This spares them the hassle of commuting to other rail ticket counters, such as at Agha station, and eliminates long queues.”

This temporary yet impactful arrangement is currently exclusive to the three days preceding Eid El-Adha and aims to relieve congestion at SNTF’s conventional ticketing locations, which typically face overwhelming foot traffic during religious holidays. More importantly, it represents a tangible example of inter-network cooperation between road and rail transport operators, a model that could set the tone for future mobility reforms in Algeria.

Travelers have responded positively to the move. “I came here to buy a bus ticket to Tizi Ouzou and was pleasantly surprised to find I could also get my return train ticket here,” shared Samir, a father traveling with his children. “This is a huge relief, especially when traveling with a family during busy periods.”

Sogral has hinted that if the Caroubier pilot proves successful, the model could be extended to additional bus terminals across the country, marking a pivotal advancement toward intelligent interconnection of Algeria’s public transport networks.
