A Historic Hiring Drive Witnessed a Record 181,162 Applicants in the Nation’s Largest Technical Recruitment Campaign in Recent Years
Algiers, Algeria | May 6th, 2025 — Algeria’s national oil and gas giant, Sonatrach, in close collaboration with the National Employment Agency (ANEM), officially announced the results of its nationwide recruitment competition aimed at hiring qualified engineers and university-level technicians across its various facilities.
The competition, held between December 29, 2024, and January 4, 2025, marks the largest recruitment operation in Sonatrach’s recent history, with an unprecedented 181,162 candidates submitting applications. This massive turnout reflects both the exceptional appeal of Sonatrach as an employer and the growing interest among Algerian graduates to contribute to the national energy sector.
In a statement released by the company, Sonatrach confirmed that the evaluation process was conducted under the strictest standards of fairness, accuracy, and transparency. Prior to grading, exam papers were anonymized through a coding process to ensure complete impartiality. The correction phase was carried out under optimal organizational conditions, with the required time and meticulous attention granted to this highly sensitive stage.
The company emphasized that this comprehensive and rigorous process reflects its unwavering commitment to meritocracy and equal opportunity. Out of the total candidates, more than 6,000 applicants successfully passed the competition, and are set to be progressively integrated across Sonatrach’s national network of sites and installations, in alignment with the group’s operational needs and sectoral demands.
Successful candidates were selected based on their academic qualifications, technical expertise, and performance in the competition, ensuring that the newly recruited cohort aligns with Sonatrach’s strategic vision for human capital development. To facilitate access to results, Sonatrach has made the official lists available on the digital platform of the National Employment Agency and at all regional employment offices, ensuring transparency and accessibility for all concerned applicants.
