Sonatrach Leadership Reshuffle: Hachichi Dismissed, Noureddine Daoudi Appointed as New CEO

Algiers – October 2025 – In an executive shake-up at the helm of Algeria’s state-owned oil and gas giant Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi has been officially dismissed from his position as Chief Executive Officer, a little over two years after assuming leadership of Africa’s largest hydrocarbons company.
According to an official communiqué issued by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Minister Mohamed Arkab presided over the installation ceremony held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Sonatrach’s headquarters in Algiers, where Noureddine Daoudi, the former President of the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT), was appointed as the new CEO of the group.
During the ceremony, which was attended by senior officials from both the ministry and Sonatrach, Minister Arkab expressed his appreciation for Mr. Hachichi’s longstanding service and “rich professional journey” within the group. He commended Hachichi’s contributions to the company’s progress, emphasizing that the leadership transition aims to inject fresh momentum into the national energy champion amid current and emerging challenges facing the hydrocarbons sector.
“This change at the head of one of the nation’s most strategic enterprises is meant to breathe new energy into Sonatrach, in line with the sector’s pressing challenges and the government’s economic ambitions,” Minister Arkab stated.
The newly appointed CEO, Noureddine Daoudi, brings with him more than three decades of experience within Sonatrach, where he held several key managerial positions and built a solid reputation in oil and gas exploration and resource management.
