Sonatrach Unveils New Investment Roadmap at African Energy Week 2025 in South Africa

Algiers – October 2025 – In a demonstration of Algeria’s energy ambitions, Sonatrach took center stage at the fifth edition of the African Energy Week (AEW 2025), held in Cape Town from September 29 to October 3, under the banner “Investing in African Energy: Enabling Africa’s Energy Leadership.” The event gathered over 6,000 participants, including senior government officials, global investors, and leading energy executives, offering a pivotal platform to unlock Africa’s vast untapped energy potential.
Representing Algeria’s flagship energy company, the Vice President for Business Development and Marketing addressed a high-level strategic session entitled “Unlocking Algeria’s Energy Potential: Investment Priorities for 2026 and Beyond.” He presented Algeria’s comprehensive investment roadmap, highlighting regulatory incentives, promising exploration opportunities, infrastructure development projects, and renewable energy initiatives—all pillars of a forward-looking vision designed to solidify Algeria’s energy leadership.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Sonatrach delegation engaged in intensive bilateral discussions with South African firms such as Vuwa Investments Holding, Espen Energy, and LanziBlox. Broader African partnerships were equally advanced through talks with Amat Global Resources of Congo and the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels of Angola. These encounters underscored Sonatrach’s determination to build intra-African synergies in energy cooperation.
The Algerian presence extended beyond the continent, with meetings held with leading global players including Norway’s Equinor, the United States’ Chevron, and Japan’s Mitsui & Co. Additionally, the delegation exchanged insights with renowned international market intelligence providers, such as S&P Global and the multinational consultancy Wood Mackenzie.
