Algeria and Bahrain Reaffirm Their Fraternal Relations and Common Commitment to Arab Causes as Bahrain Joins the UN Security Council

Algiers, Algeria | June 18th, 2025 — The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, received on Wednesday Ali Jassim Ahmed Alaradi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Algeria, at the Parliament’s headquarters. The meeting reflected the strength of Algeria-Bahrain relations and their shared commitment to Arab unity and international peace, particularly in support of the Palestinian cause.

In his welcoming remarks, Speaker Boughali praised the privileged and longstanding relations between the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Kingdom of Bahrain, emphasizing the need to elevate inter-parliamentary cooperation to match the level of political and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

He also commended Bahrain’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, describing the move as an opportunity for the Kingdom to play a constructive and principled role on the global stage, especially regarding Arab just causes, with Palestine at the forefront.

“We are confident that Bahrain will uphold its Arab responsibilities and act with integrity and resolve on the world stage, just as Algeria has consistently done,” Boughali stated, reiterating Algeria’s unwavering support for Palestine as a cornerstone of its foreign policy.

Commitment to Joint Action at the UN

For his part, Ambassador Alaradi expressed deep appreciation for Algeria’s unwavering stance on regional and international issues, particularly the Palestinian struggle, and noted the fraternal depth of bilateral ties between the two nations.

He affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to follow a path aligned with Algeria’s principled diplomacy during its term on the Security Council, vowing to defend peace, stability, and Arab unity.

“Bahrain will stand alongside Algeria at the UN in defending just causes, promoting peace, and safeguarding Arab interests,” the ambassador declared.

Activating the Algeria–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group

Speaker Boughali proposed reinvigorating the Algeria–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group to enhance bilateral legislative cooperation, promote mutual understanding, and develop more robust institutional exchanges. The two officials also discussed pressing regional and international developments, agreeing on the importance of coordination and collaboration in confronting shared challenges.
