Strategic Coordination Meeting Held to Advance Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Mining Sector

Algiers, Algeria– Tuesday, July 30, 2025 | In line with the implementation of the cooperation agreements concluded between the Algerian Center for Economic Foresight and Development of Investment and Entrepreneurship (ACEFIDE) and various institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a high-level coordination meeting was convened at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT).

The session brought together key stakeholders from both governmental and academic spheres, reflecting a concerted effort to foster sustainable innovation within strategic sectors—most notably, the mining industry. Participants included Mr. Akram Zaidi, President of ACEFIDE; Mr. Mefdjakh Issa, representative of the Director General of DGRSDT; Mr. Tsalit Djilali, Director of Innovation and Technological Development at DGRSDT; Professor Soumia Chahinez Taleb, representing the Chair of the National Coordinating Committee for the Monitoring of Innovation and University Business Incubators (NCCFIUE), and National Coordinator of Entrepreneurship Development Centers; as well as Mr. Nadhir Azizi, Director General of the National Agency for the Valorization of Research and Technological Development Results (ANVREDET).

The core focus of the meeting was to define the annual operational program pursuant to the previously signed partnership framework, with particular attention to establishing a detailed roadmap on sustainable innovation in the mining sector. The deliberations aimed to align academic research and entrepreneurial initiatives with the national development priorities outlined by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

This initiative is integral to institutionalizing the economic role of Algerian universities, a vision that features prominently in the President’s agenda and in the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Higher Education. By fostering closer collaboration between universities and the economic and social environment, the Ministry aims to strengthen national capabilities in innovation, support the emergence of competitive industries, and contribute meaningfully to Algeria’s broader economic diversification efforts.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to translating this vision into tangible projects, particularly in sectors with untapped economic potential, through a sustainable innovation-driven model rooted in university-based entrepreneurship.
