Algerian Red Crescent and Directorate of Penitentiary Administration Hold High-Level Coordination Meeting to Bolster Medical Support in Detention Centers

Algiers, Algeria | May 15th, 2025 — In a move to enhance detainee welfare across Algerian correctional facilities, Ibtissem Hamlaoui, President of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA), participated on Wednesday in a high-level coordination meeting with Saïd Zreb, Director General of the Directorate of Penitentiary Administration and Reintegration. The meeting, held at the Directorate’s headquarters, centered on reinforcing collaboration between the two national institutions, particularly in the area of medical support within detention centers.

He underscored the CRA’s sustained engagement in vulnerable settings, including prisons, and hailed its contribution as indispensable.
