Strict Instructions from Acting Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb at the National Coordination Meeting with Governors

Algiers, Algeria | From the Government Palace this Monday morning, Acting Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb presided over the opening of the National Coordination Meeting with the Walis of the Republic, held via videoconference and attended by Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies and Regional Planning, Brahim Merad.
Setting Priorities for the New Social Rentrée
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ghrieb underscored that this meeting represents a strategic platform to define immediate priorities, assess progress achieved, and reinforce measures to address looming challenges.
He issued firm instructions to ensure that all preparations for the 2025–2026 school year are finalized without delay—most notably the provision of heating equipment in rural areas, the improvement of school environments, and the guarantee of both school transportation and hot meals in canteens from the very first day of classes.
Market Stability and Anti-Fraud Measures
The Acting Prime Minister also stressed the imperative of stabilizing national markets by ensuring the availability of basic consumer goods and school supplies at affordable prices. He called for intensified monitoring and strict oversight to curb speculation, fraud, or practices undermining citizens’ purchasing power.
Natural Risk Preparedness and Seasonal Readiness
Turning to environmental risks, Mr. Ghrieb instructed local authorities to heighten vigilance against seasonal rainfall and potential flooding, urging the strengthening of infrastructure and the launch of broad cleaning campaigns as preventive measures.
He further emphasized that the meeting is equally devoted to preparations for the autumn and winter seasons, while keeping close track of local development programs, citizens’ pressing concerns, and the momentum of localized economic investment.
This high-level coordination underscores the government’s determination to tighten organizational readiness, safeguard social stability, and preempt climate and economic risks—thereby ensuring that the forthcoming social rentrée unfolds with cohesion, efficiency, and resilience.
