Taba Kindergarten in Algiers: Integrated Educational Programs and a Holistic Approach to Early Childhood Development
Algiers – December 2025 – Taba Kindergarten, located in Birtouta in Algiers, stands as one of the purposeful educational spaces dedicated to sound early childhood upbringing. By combining education with care, the institution places children’s psychological comfort and age-specific needs at the very heart of the educational process, reflecting a deep awareness of the importance of early childhood as a foundational stage in personality building.
Firmly grounded in the principle of learning through play, Taba Kindergarten provides a safe, welcoming, and reassuring environment that embraces children of different abilities and inclinations. Its carefully designed educational programs and diverse activities address psychological, motor, and cognitive dimensions, in full alignment with pedagogical standards and the guidelines of the Ministry of National Education.
In a statement to Dzair Tube, the director of Taba Kindergarten, Safia Sello, explained that the institution operates through several structured and programmed educational frameworks, all integrated within an official ministerial pedagogical program based on values and educational objectives. She noted that the kindergarten offers a wide range of activities tailored to different age groups, combining educational, recreational, and dynamic activities, as well as educational outings. Particular attention is also given to children requiring special care, especially in the fields of speech therapy and psychological support.
For her part, Arabic language teacher in the pre-preparatory section at Taba Kindergarten, Mahdia Kaman, highlighted that her class consists of twenty young pupils who primarily need care and play in order to learn, in accordance with their developmental stage. She stressed that play-based learning enables children to acquire numerous skills and concepts naturally and effectively.
Kaman further pointed out that the kindergarten provides a variety of recreational and motor activities suited to each child, particularly those facing speech difficulties, those who are overly talkative, or those who display excessive movement and activity. She underlined the importance of the monthly evaluation program adopted by the kindergarten to assess each child’s progress and determine subsequent educational steps. The overarching goal, she emphasized, is to ensure the child’s comfort by creating a nurturing environment where all needs are met at every level.
Addressing cases of children who initially refuse interaction with their peers and tend to isolate themselves, Kaman explained that such situations are handled through a gradual and carefully monitored approach. This begins with observing the child’s behavior, followed by direct engagement aimed at encouraging interaction and play with other children until the child becomes accustomed to the environment. She noted that several such cases have been successfully integrated over time, achieving positive outcomes, which, she affirmed, encapsulates the core mission of Taba Kindergarten: ensuring that every child feels comfortable and secure.
Similarly, Nabila Noursi, an educator in the preparatory section, spoke about the assessment tools used to evaluate pupils’ learning outcomes. These evaluations serve not only to assess the child’s progress but also to measure the effectiveness of the teacher’s work, demonstrating that Taba Kindergarten adheres to teaching standards consistent with those of the Ministry of National Education. She expressed hope that the educational message delivered by the kindergarten reaches the pupils in the manner most beneficial to them.
Noursi added that these assessments are conducted on a term basis and may also be weekly, given that pupils are assigned homework and use daily workbooks to reinforce their lessons. In addition to academic learning, significant attention is devoted to practical skills such as proper pencil grip, focus on the notebook, gradual adaptation to writing, and overall control of writing tools, ensuring a balanced and comprehensive educational experience from an early age.
