President Tebboune Orders Radical Transport Reform: 10,000 New Buses, Groundbreaking Road Safety Legislation

Moreover, perpetrators of traffic violations will be subjected to periodic monitoring, with a nationwide expansion of surveillance centers aimed at detecting drug and psychotropic substance abuse among drivers.
“Algeria is drawing a line under decades of negligence. Responsibility will no longer be shouldered by drivers alone; institutions tasked with ensuring safe mobility will also be held accountable,” declared Minister Sayoud, highlighting the life-saving potential of these reforms in curbing the epidemic of traffic accidents that claim thousands of lives annually.

The meeting also addressed preparations for the highly anticipated Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), which Algeria is set to host. Transport readiness was central to the discussions, with Transtev’s Director General presenting a fleet of specially equipped buses to ensure seamless mobility during the event. Each vehicle’s technical specifications, year of commissioning, and operational status were laid out as part of a meticulous logistics plan.
To enhance efficiency and transparency, an electronic platform tailored for exhibitors in the land transport sector is being finalized, promising to revolutionize service delivery and streamline client participation. Meanwhile, the CEO of Algiers International Airport announced the creation of a dedicated pavilion for exhibitors, alongside the rollout of cutting-edge Wifi 7 connectivity, positioning Algeria as a leader in modern transport and digital infrastructure.
