Technical Constitutional Amendment Unveiled: Ten Key Proposals Presented at National Conference in Algiers

๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ โ ๐๐ช๐ท๐พ๐ช๐ป๐ ๐๐๐๐ โย Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb chaired, on Saturday at the Palace of Nations in Algiers, the opening session of a national conference devoted to the draft law on the technical amendment of the Constitution, alongside the draft organic law governing the electoral system.
The conference proceedings took place in the presence of the Director of Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Boualem Boualem, members of the Government, leaders of political parties, as well as the Acting President of the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE), Mr. Karim Khelfane.
On this occasion, the Director of Cabinet of the Presidency delivered a detailed presentation outlining ten proposals related to the technical amendment of the Constitution. Among the key measures put forward is the introduction of a mandatory educational qualification requirement for candidates seeking to run for the office of President of the Republic. Another proposal concerns the clarification of the procedures governing the constitutional oath of office, through the establishment of the most appropriate organizational arrangements, including the determination of the body before which the oath is to be taken and the authority responsible for administering it.
The set of proposals also includes granting the President of the Republic the possibility to decide on the convening of early local elections, as part of efforts aimed at refining constitutional mechanisms and enhancing institutional coherence.
