ALGIERS- It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Eliette Loup, an activist and friend of the Algerian Revolution, at the age of 89. The Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders shared this news with us on Saturday.

In this difficult time, Minister Laïd Rebiga extends his heartfelt condolences and deep compassion to the family of the deceased, as well as to his fellow fighters and friends of the Algerian Revolution. He prays to Almighty God to grant them strength and solace during this trying period.

“With the loss of this remarkable individual, Algeria bids farewell to a passionate activist for the national cause, who carried the hope of victory and the unwavering belief in breaking free from the chains of colonialism,” stated Minister Rebiga.

The minister further emphasized that the late Eliette Loup had joined the ranks of the liberation struggle, firmly convinced of its righteousness, its core values, and its humanitarian ideology for liberation.

He added, “Despite enduring the most brutal tortures at Villa Susini and enduring prolonged suffering in colonial jails, Eliette Loup never wavered in her principles until the liberation of Algeria. She continued to carry the cause in her heart, proud of its history and its fight for the triumph of values and principles.”

In the wake of Eliette Loup’s passing, let us remember and honor her unwavering dedication to the Algerian Revolution. Her legacy serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals in the pursuit of freedom and justice.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
