The ICJ Order Regarding Rafah: Algeria Expresses Satisfaction

Algiers, Algeria | May 25, 2024 — Algeria expressed satisfaction on Saturday with the recent ruling from the International Court of Justice, demanding an immediate halt to the Zionist occupation’s aggressive actions against the Palestinian city of Rafah.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Algeria welcomed the ICJ’s order, which called for an end to the disgraceful aggression by the Zionist occupation forces in Rafah.
The Ministry elaborated that this development follows the ICJ’s consideration of a complaint lodged by South Africa regarding the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Additionally, it referenced the decision of the International Criminal Court’s prosecutor to pursue international arrest warrants against key Zionist officials involved in the aggression against Gaza.
Furthermore, Algeria reiterated its stance on the matter, highlighting the convergence of these significant developments as a turning point in ending the era of impunity enjoyed by the Zionist occupation. The statement condemned the mistreatment of the Palestinian people through unjust policies of occupation, colonization, racial discrimination, and the denial of their fundamental national rights.
Algeria’s statement concluded by urging the UN Security Council to take action in response to the ICJ’s ruling, emphasizing the need to enforce it effectively. This, it argued, would put an end to the various crimes perpetrated by the Zionist occupation against the residents of Gaza, with particular attention to the situation in Rafah.
