Oum El Bouaghi– In a significant move aimed at reinvigorating the local landscape and accelerating development, the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies, and Regional Planning, Mr. Brahim Merad, presided over the installation ceremony of Mr. Aissa Aissat as the new Wali of Oum El Bouaghi, succeeding Mr. Samir Nafla. The ceremony, held on Sunday afternoon in the grand conference room of Larbi-Ben M’hidi University, witnessed the presence of local elected officials, sectoral leaders, and members of civil society.

During his address at the installation ceremony, Minister Merad highlighted the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s commitment to fostering a new local dynamic aimed at accelerating the pace of development and enhancing the quality of public services provided to citizens. The President’s unwavering dedication to citizens and their living environments has been consistently underscored in his speeches, emphasizing the promotion of citizen welfare as a paramount goal.

Minister Merad emphasized the pressing challenges faced today, which require concerted efforts to achieve the stated objectives, particularly in terms of elevating public services, stimulating local development, expanding access to remote villages, and improving the living conditions of citizens. He called upon all stakeholders, including local elected officials, civic organizations, members of the Superior Youth Council (CSJ), and the National Observatory of Civil Society (ONSC), to rally behind the new Wali, offering their support to invigorate investments and address citizens’ needs effectively.

Acknowledging the commendable efforts of the outgoing Wali, Minister Merad praised the competence and qualifications of Mr. Aissa Aissat. He highlighted Mr. Aissat’s extensive experience, noting his successful tenure as the Wali Delegate of the administrative district of El Menia in the Wilaya of Ghardaïa and as the Wali of El Meghair, where he played a pivotal role in revitalizing development initiatives.

The Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies, and Regional Planning concluded by urging Mr. Aissa Aissat to wholeheartedly commit himself to serving Oum El Bouaghi, a historic Wilaya with significant untapped potential. Minister Merad’s address encapsulated the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering local development and ensuring a brighter future for the people of Oum El Bouaghi. With the baton passed to a capable leader, the Wilaya can look forward to a dynamic period of growth and progress.
