Algiers, Algeria | June 21st, 2025 — In a  move toward revitalizing Algeria’s cultural and cinematic landscape, Minister of Culture and Arts Zohir Ballalou visited the Algerian Center for Cinema Development (CADC) in Algiers, where he conducted an in-depth inspection of the studios, production spaces, and technical facilities. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to reshaping Algeria’s film sector into a dynamic, internationally competitive industry.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Culture, CADC officials provided the minister with detailed briefings on the current state of infrastructure, outlining upcoming rehabilitation and modernization plans aligned with global production standards. The minister was notably impressed by the potential of the site, stating that the project is paving the way for “the emergence of a true integrated cinematic city,” complete with purpose-built sets for future film and television productions.

During the tour, Minister Ballalou emphasized the need to intensify partnerships with private investors in the cinematic field. He also highlighted the crucial importance of mobilizing national artistic and technical talent to drive Algeria’s cultural renaissance from within. “The revival of Algerian cinema must be rooted in our national expertise, with support from both public institutions and visionary private actors,” he declared.

A major institutional announcement was also made: once administrative formalities are finalized, the CADC will officially be entrusted with the management of all state-run cinema theatres across Algeria. This strategic decision aims to enhance service quality, expand cinematic accessibility, and integrate cinema more deeply into Algeria’s socio-cultural fabric, particularly in underserved wilayas.

The minister’s proactive stance reflects the national strategy of cultural sovereignty and creative development spearheaded under the current government. The CADC’s transformation into a leading cinematic hub is poised to usher in a new golden age for Algerian cinema, rekindling its historic legacy while charting a path toward global recognition.
