Speaking at the official commemoration ceremony, which she co-chaired with Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, Zaafrani Zenzri described the remembrance as an opportunity to recall a pivotal moment of the common liberation struggle of the Tunisian and Algerian peoples. She said the occasion also served as a source of inspiration, drawing on the highest values of solidarity, mutual assistance and sincere fraternity, โsealed by the blood of martyrs,โ and deeply rooted in the fraternal historical ties binding the two nations.
The Tunisian Prime Minister stressed that Sakiet Sidi Youcef carries a renewed message to successive generations, outlining the contours of what she termed an exceptional relationship between the Tunisian and Algerian peoplesโone forged through sacrifice and sustained by a shared sense of destiny.
Zaafrani Zenzri welcomed the steady evolution of bilateral cooperation in recent years, noting its accelerating pace across multiple sectors and the tangible progress achieved in several priority areas, particularly security, energy, trade and the development of border regions. She underlined that this dynamic has been reinforced through high-level reciprocal visits, as well as a series of ministerial meetings and working sessions within joint technical and sectoral committees.
These mechanisms, she said, reflect a shared awareness of the need to translate political will into concrete achievements that deliver mutual benefits to the citizens of both countries, moving cooperation beyond declarations and into effective implementation.
On security cooperation, Zaafrani Zenzri praised what she described as an exceptional level of coordination between Tunisia and Algeria. This cooperation, she said, embodies a common conviction regarding the imperative of safeguarding the security and stability of both states and stands as a model of successful bilateral action. She added that it also constitutes a protective barrier against shared security challenges and regional threats, including terrorism, smuggling, organised cross-border crime and irregular migration.
In this context, the Tunisian Prime Minister referred to the 23rd session of the AlgerianโTunisian Joint High Commission for Cooperation, held in Tunis on 12 December 2025. She described the meeting as a decisive milestone in bilateral relations, citing the qualitative outcomes and practical recommendations it produced. The session culminated in the signing of 25 agreements across a wide range of fields, reflecting, she said, both the exceptional level reached by bilateral cooperation and the firm determination of the leaderships of both countries to advance it towards strategic integration.
