Two Terrorists Surrender to Algerian Army in Bordj Badji Mokhtar as Counterterrorism Operations Continue

Algiers, Algeria– Tuesday, July 30, 2025 |  In a significant development underscoring Algeria’s ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism and bolster border security, two terrorists have voluntarily surrendered to military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, located in the 6th Military Region. The announcement was made in an official communiqué released by the Ministry of National Defence (MDN) as part of the operational report of the People’s National Army (ANP) for the period from July 23 to 29, 2025.

The individuals in question were identified as Touadji Ahmed, also known by the alias Abdelkader, and Melouki Hiballah. According to the statement, they were in possession of a Kalashnikov-type submachine gun, a quantity of ammunition, and other military effects at the time of their surrender.

This act of reddition reflects both the increasing disintegration of terrorist networks within the region and the strategic effectiveness of the ANP’s ongoing operations. The Ministry emphasized that the event falls within the framework of the sustained counterterrorism campaign spearheaded by the Algerian army, which continues to consolidate security and stability, particularly along vulnerable border areas in the south.

In addition to the surrender of the two terrorists, the MDN also reported the arrest of three individuals suspected of providing support to terrorist groups. These arrests were made during separate operations carried out across various regions of the national territory.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high-level vigilance and operational readiness, reiterating that efforts to track down and neutralize terrorist threats—both active and latent—will remain a top priority.
