United States Reaffirms Strong Commitment to Expanding Economic Ties with Algeria

Algiers – September 2025 – In a clear and deliberate message underscoring Washington’s growing interest in deepening bilateral cooperation, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau expressed his country’s firm resolve to broaden and reinforce economic relations with Algeria.
Through a video message addressed to what he called “the great Algerian people,” and published on the official social media platforms of the U.S. Embassy in Algiers, Landau emphasized that one of the most pressing and strategic issues on his current agenda is the expansion of trade and investment ties between the two nations. He underlined that the immense opportunities available today will serve as a catalyst for tangible progress, generating mutual benefits for both Algerian and American societies.
Highlighting his optimism for the future, Landau stressed that these economic prospects are not only promising but also essential for ensuring shared prosperity. “The vast potential between our two great countries will enable us to achieve greater advancements for the well-being of our peoples,” he declared.
The senior U.S. diplomat further noted the importance of recent diplomatic engagements, particularly his meeting in New York with Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs. Their discussions focused on mechanisms to unlock and fully capitalize on the numerous opportunities available to both nations, with the aim of consolidating a solid partnership in the years to come.
Reiterating his commitment to closer relations, Landau voiced his strong desire to visit Algeria in the near future, underlining his personal dedication to bringing the two nations even closer. He expressed confidence that such proximity will pave the way for a shared vision of development, stability, and a prosperous future that unites Algerians and Americans alike.
