University of Algiers 1: Minister Baddari Orders Reforms in Law and Islamic Sciences Faculties to Elevate Academic Standards

Algiers – September 2025 – In a move underscoring his determination to modernize Algeria’s higher education system, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kamel Baddari carried out an inspection visit on Sunday to the Faculties of Law and Islamic Sciences at the University of Algiers 1.
According to a statement from the ministry, the visit was aimed at ensuring that all preparations are finalized to welcome students under optimal conditions. Baddari emphasized the necessity of enhancing the pedagogical environment of the institution by consolidating digitalization across its structures.
In a series of firm instructions, the minister ordered the creation of a new academic curriculum in English focused on international law and human rights, stressing the importance of adapting the program to the semester-based credit system. He further mandated the extension of teaching and academic activity hours until 10 p.m., thereby expanding access to educational resources and fostering a more dynamic learning atmosphere.
Equally significant was his directive to immediately digitize the entire documentary collection of the university’s library, ensuring that students and faculty members benefit from modern research tools. He also insisted on improving the overall living conditions within the university environment, reaffirming the government’s vision of a higher education system that not only transmits knowledge but also meets international standards of academic excellence.
