Verdict Revealed in Bedoui and Boudiaf Case: Tougher Sentences Handed Down

ALGIERS- The Algerian court in Algiers has issued a verdict on Sunday in the case involving former Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui and former Health Minister Abdelmalek Boudiaf concerning corruption accusations related to the Constantine airport project.

Bedoui and Boudiaf have been sentenced to four years in prison each for their involvement in a corruption case. The charges stem from a dubious contract for the construction of Constantine’s airport terminal during their tenure as governors of the province. The accusations also include abuse of power and the granting of undue advantages.

The court’s decision was based on an investigation revealing irregularities in the contract for the construction of the Constantine airport terminal. The financial allocation for the project, received after a delay of 10 years instead of the specified 48 months, was found to have been inflated.

In June of the previous year, the economic and financial criminal tribunal in Sidi M’hamed had initially sentenced Noureddine Bedoui and Abdelmalek Boudiaf to five years in prison, along with a fine of one million dinars.
