Walid Sadi Secures Algeria’s Triumphant Return to the Executive Committee of the Arab Football Union

Today’s breakthrough, observers stress, is more than symbolic; it signals Algeria’s reinstated authority within Arab and African football corridors of power, after a series of organizational triumphs that have elevated its stature in the sports arena.
From hosting the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to staging multiple Arab competitions at both national team and club levels, Algeria has proven itself as a hub for high-level tournaments, logistical expertise, and fan engagement. Analysts say these achievements paved the way for Walid Sadi’s election, which is widely viewed as both a personal victory and a national milestone.
Sports analyst Noureddine Amamer hailed the development as “a genuine gain for Algeria—not solely in terms of football, but equally as an asset to sports diplomacy.” He added, “Algeria’s return to the Executive Committee ensures its voice will be heard in major decisions and allows it to defend both Algerian and Arab football interests with credibility and vigor.”
Sadi’s new role is expected to grant Algeria a stronger platform to shape the future of Arab football, influencing key policies, and enhancing regional cooperation.
