Weather Alert: Rain and Falling Temperatures Sweep Across Northern Algeria

Algiers – November 2025 – Following significant rainfall and snowfall, the National Meteorological Office of Algeria has issued a forecast indicating marked drops in temperatures across the country for Saturday, 22 November 2025. The northern regions are expected to continue receiving intermittent yet substantial quantities of rain and snow throughout the day, creating challenging conditions for residents and travelers alike.
Temperature projections indicate a high of 15°C in Algiers, 11°C in Jijel, 7°C in Saida, and 8°C in both Djelfa and Sétif. These figures underscore the intensity of the cold spell accompanying the ongoing precipitation.
In terms of regional variations, the western and central-western territories, particularly along the coastline and interior areas, are forecast to experience partial clearing beginning in the morning, although skies will remain generally overcast with intermittent breaks in cloud cover. Conversely, persistent showers are expected over the central-east and eastern regions, while the Aurès mountains will see predominantly clear skies.
Southern regions present a contrasting picture. The northern Sahara will enjoy largely clear conditions, whereas the remainder of the southern territories will experience partially veiled skies. Winds will blow from the northeast to northwest at moderate velocities ranging between 10 and 25 km/h, adding to the overall atmospheric variability.
Temperature ranges throughout the day are as follows: In the morning, coastal regions will register 9–15°C, interior and high plateau areas 7–16°C, and the Sahara 15–28°C. During the afternoon, temperatures are expected to remain within the same ranges: 9–15°C along the coast, 7–16°C inland, and 15–29°C across the Sahara. Overnight, conditions will turn colder with coastal areas cooling to 3–13°C, the interior and high plateaus dropping to 2–9°C, and the Sahara settling at 8–21°C.
